County Championship Preview: Glamorgan
Glamorgan narrowly missed out on Promotion last season. Can they go one better this year?
Glamorgan Narrowly missed out on promotion to Division 1 last year but will be lucking to get there this year with a weaker teams at the Top of the Division this year after Notts got promoted.
With one of the best batters in the World in Marnus Labuschagne returning as well as Colin Ingram and Michael Neser they should have both Batting and Bowling firepower but the loss of Michael Hogan to what they thought was retirement but was in fact to Kent and the lack of a Spinner unless one of their new recruits can perform could stunt their progress on wickets which favour the Slow Bowlers.
Marnus is available for the whole season expect when Australia call for the WTC final and the Ashes so he can lead by example through most of the first block of Cricket. He did however only score 377 runs at 42 while Ingram managed to score 596 runs at 66 so it might not be such a sure thing.
But Labuschagne’s Leggies would likely be the primary spin option next to Salter’s Offies with Timm Van Der Gugten left to lead the Domestic Pacers.
Predicted Line-Up:
David Lloyd
Eddie Byrom
Marnus Labuschange
Sam Northeast
Billy Root
Chris Cooke (WK)
Andrew Salter
James Harris
Michael Neser
Harry Podmore
Timm Van Der Gugten
