County Championship Preview: Leicestershire
Leicestershire were awful last year but with Starlet Rehan Ahmed can they threaten teams?
Leicestershire have been perennial poor performers in the County Championship over recent years finishing last in 2022. They have had a “contract apocalypse” which should have helped them build a team which can compete more but losing promising young player Ben Mike to Yorkshire has left them in Limbo.
They have one ray of hope though and that is Rehan Ahmed who made his Test Debut vs Pakistan this winter. They have resigned Wiaan Mulder as an Overseas as well as have recruited Peter Handscomb for the start of the season and Ajinkya Rahane later to bolster the batting order.
Sol Budinger has arrived from Nottinghamshire as well as Matt Salisbury arriving from Durham to try and add respectability to their side but their bowling looks just as weak as before and I doubt they will win a game all season again but they might have some more draws.
Predicted Line-Up:
Sol Budinger
Louis Kimber
Colin Ackermann
Peter Handscomb
Wiaan Mulder
Rehan Ahmed
Harry Swindells
Tom Scriven
Ed Barnes
Callum Parkinson
Michael Finan
