County Championship Preview: Nottinghamshire
Notts climbed back into Division 1 last season after winning Division 2 in stunning fashion. Where will they challenge this year?
Getting promoted back into Division 1 after falling out in 2018 Nottinghamshire have a point to prove after they finished 3rd in 2021 but the format reverted for 2022 putting them in Division 2. They stormed to the title and will look to carry on the momentum of the past 2 years and challenge in Division 1 this year.
They had 4 regular player average over 50 in Duckett, Hameed, James and Mullaney all who stay as Domestic players. Availability for Duckett will be odd with England but this form placed him back in the side scoring 1012 runs at 72 batting at number 3. They can also call upon an all-time great bowler at the start of the season in Stuart Broad and the Overseas Quick Dane Paterson returns after a great season last year.
They continue to bring through young players whether developed themselves or bought from the other East Midlands Counties and they had one of the best Spinners last year in Liam Patterson-White who isn’t near an England call so will continue to be available.
Bringing in Olly Stone adds an even quicker element to their attack but he can be away with England or injured but when available and if managed he can be destructive for them.
Predicted Line-Up:
Ben Slater
Haseeb Hameed
Ben Duckett
Joe Clarke
Lyndon James
Steven Mullaney
Tom Moores (WK)
Liam Patterson-White
Stuart Broad
Dane Paterson
