County Championship Preview: Yorkshire
Yorkshire dropped down to Division 2 again and are marred by off-field events. Can they rebuild on the pitch?
Under the cloud of a Racism investigation and getting relegated Yorkshire look in turmoil but they have a couple of stars who have stayed with them. Unfortunately they are so bright that they are always with England so never get to play.
Joe Root and Harry Brook will miss almost all of the season between the IPL and England commitments so they are left with just Dawid Malan to carry their batting after both David Willey and Tom Kohler-Cadmore left to pursue their careers away from the intense spotlight Yorkshire are currently under.
They have replaced the players smartly though with Ben Mike joining from Leicestershire and Matt Milnes from Kent. It will be a wait and see how they do with such a big turnover of players and the general cloud over Headingly.
They have signed Shan Masood as an Overseas after he did so well at Derbyshire and they have the Ultra-Postmodern bowler in Neil Wagner although his recent drop in pace might mean the armpit bouncers aren’t quite as effective anymore.
Bairstow has been seen in the Nets at Headingly already so may play but he might not play either if not it falls to either Mickey Edwards, Jafer Chohan or Harry Duke.
Predicted Line-Up:
